Hello, my name is Jessica Clark. My maiden name is Jessica Pilkerton.
As of May 2017, I graduated and earned a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Education English Language Arts with a 3.815 GPA in addition to being honored as the Class of 2017 Commencement Speaker. As a first generation college student, I was the first one in my family to attend college and graduate.
During and after college, I worked various jobs as a babysitter, substitute teacher for GCCS/NAFC, part-time police dispatcher for IUSPD, part time teacher at Sylvan Learning Center, summer temporary worker at the Kentucky Truck Plant, student teacher at Jeffersonville High School, the Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach at BTHS, and as an Ambassador at Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, KY.
After graduation, I full time taught at St. James Catholic School for the 2017-2018 school year. I taught grades 5-8. I taught 7/8 World Geography, 7/8 English, 7/8 Reading, 7/8 Catholic Religion, and 5/6 US History. In addition to these responsibilities, I worked as the 5-8th Book Bee Reading Coach.
During the 2018-2019 school year, I began working full time at Mt. Washington Middle School as the 7th Grade Language Arts/Reading Strategies teacher. In addition to these duties, I became the Girls Middle School Track Coach at Mt. Washington Middle School as well. Fortunately, I was able to participate in wonderful Professional Learning opportunities through the 2018-2019 Thinking Cadre for BCPS and Teach Like a Pirate MWMS Book Study.
During the 2019-2020 school year, I returned to Mt. Washington Middle School as a full time 7th Grade Reading Teacher! Also, I remained the Girls Track Coach. Despite the pandemic, the year ended wonderfully with new opportunities to educate digitally. I was able to participate in most of the Louisville Writing Project, prior to the pandemic, and begin my internship through IUS as a School Counselor Intern. I was able to counsel, under supervision, several students one-to-one, and run a small girl's group working to build self-esteem.
During the 2020-2021 school year, I returned to Mt. Washington Middle School as the full time 7th Grade Reading/Language Arts teacher and was the Track Coach in the Spring. I also completed my internship as a school counselor. In May, I completed my degree through IU Southeast and earned my Master's of Science Degree in K-12 School Counseling. I graduated in May of 2021.
During the 2021-2022 school year, I continued educating 7th graders at Mt. Washington Middle School and also continued coaching track. I helped out in the counseling office when the counselor was unavailable and even ran small counseling groups after school with Mr. Johnson using the Energy Bus philosophies.
For the 2022-2023 school year, I have accepted my first School Counseling Position at Roby Elementary School. I am excited for this new journey ahead. I will be in charge of creating/implementing a new schoolwide PBIS system and providing daily Social Emotional (SEL) Lessons for Cougar Den time. In addition to this, I will be leading one on one counseling for academic/social emotional needs, small groups with students, and classroom guidance lessons. I'm looking forward to this new journey as a Cougar Cub!
Looking beyond, I also have hopes in pursuing a license in "Educational Leadership" to become an administrative leader within my building.
My hobbies include: photography, reading, and personal fitness.
